HOMEWOOD ENERGY SERVICES OFFERS EARTHQUAKE-PROOF
TO NUCLEAR POWER INDUSTRY
Pittsburgh, PA, May 10, 2007 -- Homewood Energy Services (HES), an original equipment manufacturer and supplier of new equipment and parts for vintage (pre-1986) Westinghouse Electric Corporation equipment, is now offering seismically-qualified emergency lighting fixtures (ELF) to the nuclear power generation industry. “Our stainless steel-enclosed ELFs are a direct retrofit for the obsolete Holophane M-19 ELF,” said Jim Kirk, vice-president of operations. “Their rugged solid state construction is designed for extreme conditions like earthquakes - The two 218-watt incandescent bulbs or optional LED lights illuminate critical equipment such as pumps and generators for inspection during a loss of power,” he said.
Kirk elaborated on the fixtures’ exceptional construction, noting they have a fully operational lifespan of 39 years and must endure eight hours of illumination after loss of power. This is generally a requirement from the plants during licensing for fire protection from Appendix R.” Homewood Energy Services (HES) is a manufacturer and supplier of equipment and parts for the nuclear power generation industry. Since becoming independent in 1995, the former Westinghouse Homewood Division has been providing motors and Birns/Homewood emergency lighting to support a plant's installed base, and to provide upgraded equipment for plant modifications.
